Ooredoo Myanmar will introduce 3G mobile services nationwide in 2014. To achieve this, the operator has selected Nokia Solutions and Networks as the key supplier for its radio and core equipment and services. Ooredoo’s subscribers in Myanmar will soon have access to advanced mobile broadband services.

Nokia Solutions and Networks has won an LTE* contract with China Telecommunications Corporation (China Telecom), a major wireless broadband operator in China. The operator has selected NSN as major partner for its nationwide LTE rollout. This contract with China Telecom, a new customer for NSN’s mobile broadband business, marks yet another successful LTE breakthrough for the infrastructure supplier.

5G research won fresh support today as the European Commission and the 5G PPP Association signed a contract to create a 5G public-private partnership (PPP). The 5G PPP will further develop 5G technology to prepare for the future standardization of the system and components that are expected to be deployed in the next decade.

Chunghwa Telecom, the largest operator in Taiwan with over 10 million mobile subscribers, has chosen Nokia Solutions and Networks as a supplier to its 4G LTE network, targeting a fast and smooth roll-out in 2014. In addition, the operator extended its existing contract with NSN as sole supplier of its island-wide 3G HSPA+ network to further increase the network capacity.

StarHub, a premier operator in Singapore, has successfully completed the first Voice over LTE (VoLTE) call based on IR.92* in a live network in Southeast Asia. The operator implemented Nokia Solutions and Networks’ comprehensive end-to-end approach for providing voice call services over LTE** (long term evolution).

Nokia Solutions and Networks has demonstrated its telco cloud capabilities in a joint proof-of-concept for Evolved Packet Core (EPC) virtualization with SK Telecom, the leading operator in Korea. This Networks Functions Virtualization (NFV) project showed successful results for capacity scaling for both throughput and signaling traffic in connection with smartphone usage patterns.

Accelerates adoption of LTE TDD spectrum, improves smartphone experience
Nokia Solutions and Networks today launches a powerful TD-LTE 8-pipe radio module for Band 41* spectrum. The new base station component will enable operators to use the 2.6 GHz LTE TDD spectrum band to meet booming demand for mobile broadband. Supporting up to 120 MHz of channel bandwidth, this is the industry’s highest capacity 8-pipe radio module. It delivers twice as much transmission power output than previous versions, substantially improving the user experience, particularly at the edge of a cell’s coverage.

Germany's mobile operator E-Plus Group has selected Nokia Solutions and Networks to protect its 4G LTE network from unauthorized access, manipulation and other threats. NSN will implement a complete end-to-end, 3GPP-compliant security solution to ensure a safe, convenient mobile broadband experience for E-Plus subscribers. Further benefits include authentication of network elements and lower costs due to the automatic rollout and lifecycle management of base station certificates.
